First Time Buyers in Clintonville - Part 5: From Waiting to “We’re On Our Way!”

If you’ve been following along since the very first post in this series — First Time Buyers in Clintonville: Home at Last — you already know how this story ends: two first-time buyers, a charming Clintonville home, and one very happy moving day.

But what you didn’t see in that celebratory post was this chapter — the waiting game that came before the finish line.

For these first-time buyers, the whirlwind of searching, offering, and negotiating came to a screeching halt the moment their offer was accepted — with one little catch. The sellers needed to find a home of their own before the sale could move forward, so a suitable housing contingency went into place.

And so began the hardest part of all: waiting.

While they’re not exactly superstitious, my buyers didn’t want to jinx anything — or invest too much time or money in a house that might not end up being theirs. After weeks of constant action, they suddenly faced a new kind of challenge: sitting still.

Of course, “sitting still” is an exaggeration. They locked in a great mortgage rate, made their to-do lists, and dreamed up plans for life in their Clintonville home. Behind the scenes, I checked in often with the seller’s agent, shared updates, and kept them encouraged and ready to move when the moment came.

From waiting to moving day — and finally, home.

And then one morning — oh happy day — the news they’d been waiting for arrived:
The sellers found a home. The contingency was lifted. It was go time.

The to-do list came alive:

  • Notify the lender and finalize financing

  • Call insurance providers for quotes

  • Schedule movers (finally getting their things out of storage and out of Mom and Dad’s house!)

They wasted no time — lining up contractors, scheduling the tree removal, and setting their plans in motion.

After months of waiting, they were finally moving forward — and savoring every step toward the front door of their very first home.

Looking back now, it’s hard to believe how far they’ve come. From that quiet stretch of waiting to the joyful chaos of moving day, their journey is complete — and this chapter of First-Time Buyers in Clintonville comes to a close.

But for these two, the story of home is just getting started. 🏡
